Scout: Scout is the daughter of Atticus Finch. She is quite a bit of a tomboy and enjoys nothing more than spending time with her brother Jem and their neighbour Dill. She is six years old but is very mature for her age but always makes a big scene when something doesn’t go her way.
Jem: He is the brother of scout and the son of Atticus. He is ten years old and takes great pride in who he is. He always has an answer for everything no matter how ridiculous the question is that scout asks him.
Atticus Finch: Being a lawyer he is a man of justice and great knowledge. He doesn’t show great signs of affection for his children Jem and scout but is none the less a great father. He speaks in a very gentle manner and he looks at situations in a way that most people wouldn’t.
Charles Baker Harris: Better known as Dill, he only comes to Maycomb in the summer when visiting his aunt who lives next door to the Finches. He comes from Meridian, Mississippi. He is six years old but is surprisingly small for his age.
Calpurnia: She is the maid of the Finch household. She is well educated for a black woman and acts like the children’s mother. Her backhand acts as the law round the finches.
Aunt Alexandra: She is the sister of Atticus and still lives on Fiches Landing. She believes that the dominant race, are whites and always questions Atticus’s behaviour towards calpurnia and the way he brings up his children. She is very old fashion.
Miss Maudie Atkinson: She sits in her rocking chair all day and does nothing else apart from giving everyone who passes her house a sharp screech of her mind. Growing the most beautiful flowers in town is her only occupation.
Mr. Dolphus: He seems to always spend his time with all the black people in the town. He even has seven children with a black woman even though that he comes from an old rich family. He is quite the black sheep of the town.
Miss Stephanie Crawford: She is the town’s main source of gossip. The cruller the better. Jem finds out everything about Boo Radley from her and she seems to know everything about everyone.
Reverend Skye: He is the minister of the church in Maycomb and is an authority figure in the African American community. He seems quite strange to Jem and scout but is none the less than a kind caring man.
Tom Robison: He is an accused man of a crime that he did not commit but is most likely only on trail because of his skin colour. He is a hard workingman who was just caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Judge Taylor: He is the most informal judge to be heard of. Whenever in court he is half asleep with his feet up and chewing on a cigar. Surprisingly he is a brilliant judge because all of his decsions turn out well.
